Job Summary
This position provides Senior Paralegal support tothe Directors, Vice-Presidents, Senior Vice-Presidents and General Counsel ofthe Business and Legal Affairs Department who primarily support Avail-TVNís entertainment and affiliate networks in the distribution, licensing and acquisition of programming content within the entertainment, linear, cable and telco industries in Sherman Oaks, CA and Reston, VA. Major Activities to ensure achievement of key results and deliverables
- Readily supports the attorneys and other departments with initial drafts, detailed document redlining, contract management, legal research, memoranda, and responses to document requests and other due diligence
- Effective organizational skills and the ability to multi-task and to quickly shift focus to meet changing needs will be critical to the success of the person
- Ability to create and work with spreadsheets and databases
- Ability to communicate internally and externally using effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to be a versatile and proactive team player
- Ability to adapt in a high-paced and drive-for-results environment
Your Qualifications
- Bachelorís degree or related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience
- ABA Paralegal certificate preferred
- 5+ yearsí minimum experience in entertainment law firm or in-house entertainment or media corporate legal experience a plus
- Possession of strong working knowledge of contract law in any ofthe following industries preferred: entertainment, media, satellite, cable, or telco tv
- Must have the ability to work autonomously and to effectively multi-task and adapt to changing demands
- Must possess outstanding written and verbal communications skills (writing sample and references will be required)
- Must be detailed oriented and have strong organizational skills
- Experience as an entertainment legal assistant or paralegal at either an entertainment lawfirm or in the business affairs/legal department of a studio or entertainment agency, digital media, or cable television company is strongly preferred
- Experience in the support of partners, lawyers or high-level corporate executives preferred
