Avail-TVN and UFC Put the Hottest Action in the Palms of COX Communications Subscribers' Hands with UFC On Demand

Sherman Oaks, CA, March 3, 2010 - Avail-TVN, the largest digital media services company in North America, today announced an agreement to bring Ultimate Fighting Championship® (UFC) content to Cox Communications subscribers any time they want it. Beginning in March, and coinciding with UFC’s mega PPV Event, UFC 111: St-Pierre vs. Hardy, taking place on March 27, 2010, UFC On Demand will be available to Cox’s digital subscribers 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Today’s announcement brings the total number of UFC On Demand VOD households to over 32 million.

UFC On Demand service consists of a triple-tiered offering of three distinct services:

  • UFC Free Zone is an on-demand free service offering informative and entertaining short features on mixed martial arts rules, fighting disciplines, styles and techniques. The highly popular Countdown UFC shows, fighter profiles and UFC event previews are also available via UFC Free Zone.
  • UFC Fight Zone offers single UFC library fights in their entirety, at $2.99 per single fight and $3.99 for a two-fight combo pack, with a 24-hour viewing period. UFC Fight Zone features fighters who will be competing in an upcoming UFC pay-per-view event, offering fans the opportunity to see these PPV champions and challengers in some of their most legendary fights and prior matchups.
  • UFC Event Zone offers full UFC events and specials, starting at $4.99 per title for a 24-hour viewing period. Offerings include recent UFC pay-per-view events that feature fighters who will be competing in an upcoming UFC event, as well as the original and rarely seen “UFC Classics” from 1993-1998, along with UFC’s hottest selling full-length DVDs, UFC compilation specials and video-on-demand replays of current pay-per-view events.

“UFC is one of the most popular and fast growing sports franchises around,” said Bob Nocera, director of marketing, new video services for Cox Communications. “The addition of this content to our On Demand platform is one more way that Cox is enhancing the value of our service for subscribers.”

“UFC enjoys a tremendously loyal fan base, and we are thrilled to be working with Cox to offer this high value content to its subscribers,” said Jim Riley, chief revenue officer at Avail-TVN. “UFC fights are among the most watched pay per view events and the way that UFC is leveraging the on demand platform will only serve to increase its popularity.
