“And the Winner Is…”: Avail-TVN Celebrates Award Winning and Nominated Movies

March VOD Promotion Includes Past Academy Award® Winners and This Year’s Nominees

Sherman Oaks, CA, March 1, 2010 - Avail-TVN, the largest digital media services company in North America, is setting the stage for the Oscars®. The company today announced a video on demand promotion featuring former Academy Award® winners and this year’s nominees. Timed to build on the excitement and anticipation surrounding the March 7 Academy Awards, the promotion, titled “And the Winner Is,” begins March 1.

Appearing as a folder on the VOD menus of participating operators, “And the Winner Is” will feature five subcategories: “Best Actor”; “Best Actress”; “Best Director”; “Best Picture” and “New Releases.” In total, the promotion contains over 30 new and classic titles, including this year’s Academy Award nominees: “The Hurt Locker”; “Inglourious Basterds”; “Precious”; “A Serious Man” and “Up.” The “And the Winner Is” promotion will be available in over seven million households through service providers such as Atlantic Broadband, Buckeye, Charter, Eastlink and Liberty.

“Affiliates are reporting increased buy rates as a direct result of promotional menu categories,” said Brian Matthews, Avail-TVN’s chief marketing officer. “Through programming stunts such as ‘And the Winner Is’, Avail-TVN makes it easier for consumers to navigate the thousands of On Demand titles, and helps affiliates create additional interest for the platform.”

Avail-TVN offers themed programming stunts and menu promotions that help affiliates guide customers to programming that they might not always find through existing menu structures. The company currently offers at least two themed programming stunts each month in addition to supporting categories created by the Studios around new release tent pole titles. Avail-TVN is providing additional support for the “And the Winner Is” stunt by providing cross channel spots that promote the category and feature many of the included titles.
