Anime Network Selects TVN Entertainment For Comprehensive Long-Term Deal
On-Demand Channel to Use TVN’s Extensive Suite of Services Across North America
Burbank, California, June 23, 2008 - TVN© Entertainment Corp., the world’s largest television on-demand company, and Anime Network, America’s #1 Anime Channel, today announced a three year, comprehensive VOD services partnership. The deal includes industry-wide distribution and asset/metadata management services in support of Anime Network’s subscription (SVOD) and free on demand (FOD) programming services across various codecs, formats, and other configurations.
Anime Network, one of the most widely distributed of a new breed of stand-alone on-demand networks, will have full access to TVN’s innovative suite of on-demand products and services including: ADONISS™ – the Emmy-nominated asset management system; iPRI – an advanced interactive tool that allows programmers to dynamically update VOD metadata before, during, and after asset distribution to VOD servers and TVNow – the fast turn around service that converts live programming into on-demand content, which is then made available to viewers within hours of the event. The deal also involves support of Anime Network’s on-demand advertising initiatives.
“With its niche programming and ardent fan base, Anime Network represents the ideal type of programming for On Demand,” said Matt Cohen, SVP strategy and business development for TVN Entertainment. “Anime Network has done a great job of consistently providing high quality programming to their affiliates and loyal fans, and we are excited to be extending and expanding our longstanding relationship with them.”
Anime Network, an early entrant in the VOD space, recently exited the linear channel business, opting to focus its resources on its SVOD and free on demand initiatives, as VOD has proven to be a more efficient platform for delivering high quality content to its avid audience.
“Our goal has always been to create an unparalleled viewing experience for Anime fans, and VOD is a centerpiece of that strategy because of its strong consumer appeal and its ability to promote niche content,” said Stacy Dodson, Director of Programming for Anime Network. “TVN has been a great partner, and we look forward to expanding upon that foundation to take advantage of TVN’s innovations like dynamic metadata updates and VOD advertising support.”
